The Florida Dairy Farmers Daytona Beach Open finished off an eventful 2025 year on the PPA Tour. Due to the proximity of the tournament being so close to the holidays, along with the fact that many players wanted to take a bigger rest before The Masters in January, many players skipped this event.
This left openings for different players and partnerships to rise to the top and earn some valuable PPA Points.
Let’s get into the action.
Both Jorja and JW Johnson Earned Double Gold Mixed Doubles Jorja and JW Johnson won gold together in mixed doubles for the fourth time in 2025. As the #1 overall seed, they were heavily favored. However, they had some tough competition on the way to gold.
In the first two rounds, they dominated the competition, going a combined 44-11. The quarterfinals are where they found their first test, in Rachel Rohrabacher and Federico Staksrud. The Johnsons were able to win 11-1, 3-11, 11-4. The semis were another tough three gamer, over Jessie Irvine and Gabe Tardio, 5-11, 11-7, 11-5.
In the finals, they faced off against Kaitlyn Christian and Andrei Daescu, who had some tough competition to get there. Particularly in the quarterfinals, Daescu and Christian won 13-11 in the third game over Catherine Parenteau and Dekel Bar. However, the Johnsons dominated the finals and won fairly quickly in three games, 11-5, 11-1, 11-4.
